Seperti di negara-negara Asia lainnya, orang Indonesia suka dengan basa-basi. Kalau bicara muter-muter dulu baru setelah itu menyampaikan maksud yang sebenarnya. Malah ada juga yang tidak bilang dan mengharapkan lawan bicaranya mengerti apa yang dimaksud.

Saya sendiri suka bingung kalau dihadapkan dengan keadaan seperti itu. Basa-basi oke-oke saja, tapi kalau saya harus mengerti apa yang dimaksud tanpa ada penjelasan selanjutnya, ujung-ujungnya malah jadi salah pengertian.

From my observation and from my blogwalking, for now I think I can say that:

• Indonesians love their foods. Especially with the varieties and with how easy it is to get them.
• Indonesians love their natural sceneries (mountains, beaches, etc.)
• Indonesians take pride in their cultural diversity.
• Indonesians love the concept of family, and of course they love their families (maybe not all though).
• Indonesians love the fact that they can get cheap branded clothings
• Indonesians love the fact that they can bargain for stuff
• Indonesians love football a lot (many of them at least)
• Indonesians smokers love how cheap (relatively speaking) cigarettes are, and unfortunately the number of smokers is in the increase.
• Indonesians love Indonesian soap operas (many of them at least)

From the above list, I should say that food is often become the number one reason why Indonesians love Indonesia. From many people I’ve met and from my personal experiences, when Indonesians live overseas, one the hardest things to leave behind is food. It is then followed by family (or the other way around, but these two are usually mentioned).

Popularity: 24% [?]

One of those activities that a blogger like me do is blogwalking. Visiting new blogs, read them or just to say hello. Naturally I went to many blogs and *ehm* written by Indonesian female bloggers. Well it’s like a second nature to click on “girlish” blog links

But anyway, these what I can say so far about those blogs:

• a lot of them are talking about their kids and family.
• a lot of them are talking about love, life, and cooking.
• a lot of them are talking about how they feel.
• a lot of them are talking about their travels.

I have no objection toward those blogs. I just think that we can actually draw a small picture from my finding. A lot of Indonesian female bloggers see blogs as their public personal journals and they continue to treat it as such. Very little I found blogs that try to offer more, such as selling stuff or offer analysis on events and news.

I realize that I can’t draw a complete conclusion just by blogwalking alone, and it is of course doesn’t apply to all of them.

Nevertheless, is it possible that the use of blogs mainly to talk about the topics I mentioned above, represents how women are perceived in this country? Is it also possible to say that this is how Indonesian women positioned themselves in the society?

Saya mau ngajak temen-temen untuk ikut ngeramein Pancaroba.com. Pancaroba saya buat sebagai tempat berbagi tulisan para blogger. Teman-teman bisa posting beragam tulisan dengan topik yang berbeda. Untuk mudahnya lihat deh kategori yang ada di Pancaroba.

Pancaroba sama sekali tidak mencoba untuk menggantikan blog temen-temen. Tapi lebih untuk menjadi tempat “penyebaran” tulisan temen-temen sehingga dapat dibaca oleh audience yang lebih luas lagi. Makin banyak yang baca, makin seneng kan? hayo ngaku!

Bentuk postingnya ngga perlu resmi, yang santai juga bisa. Yang penting kita bisa saling sharing pendapat dan berinteraksi di sana. Cara gabungnya gampang kok, tinggal register aja. Gratis? Tentunya

Update: When you upgrade your Wordpress via Fantastico, it automatically deletes the modified widgets.php. You have to redo it again Sorry but this is the only way. Why not just copy the old version one? This is to ensure that your widgets.php will always follow the lastest version. If you used the older version, I’m afraid it may not work as intendend.
