Today I visited several adult sites. Wait, hold that thought! I did it in the name of research for this posting Hehehe… Anyway, as enticing as it may be, I couldn’t help to think about what is happening in this world that makes sex such an attractive sale. What concerns me, if not sadden, is the fact that there are so many young people who decided to use their bodies and promote it as sexual object.

When I visited Asian adult sites, most of them are dominated by the Japanese, while in Europe, a lot of them (the women) are coming from the eastern part of the continent. The US appears to me still, as the largest contributor for adult contents. Indonesia is no exception. Although it is yet to catch up with the rest of the world, but the sex industry in this country has also exploited the Internet.

Despite of variations in the contents, there is a striking similarity among adult sites. A lot of them are using young women from the age of 18 to19 for their main attraction. I’m not sure whether it’s just me who were attracted to 18-19’s during my research, but I think a lot of the adult sites are indeed promoting 18-19 years old girls.

I don’t deny the fact that to some extent, I too enjoy seeing female bodies in suggestive positions, but then again, as a human being I also couldn’t help to feel sorry for them.

If I treated adult sites only for my personal pleasures, I probably wouldn’t care much, but I’m not that selfish. Women, in my opinion are creatures of beauty. She should be adored, cared for, and protected from harm. However, when a woman deliberately throws herself into a situation where she becomes a sexual object for millions to see… *sigh* … oh well, I don’t know what to say…

Some may consider sex is about personal freedom, and thus those girls can do whatever they like with their bodies as long as they have met the legal age requirement. Maybe, but the legal age requirement is only a regulation, which cannot protect the minds of those girls from the influence of sexual commercialization.

Let’s be realistic, most of 18-19 years old girls are relatively incapable to make life decision for themselves. A lot of them making decisions without thinking it through, and usually they did it under the influence of others such as family, friends, media, society, or even alcohol. I found some examples where the 18-19 years old girls are actually proud to be part of the sex industry. I’m not sure whether her proudness is derived from deep consideration or just for the sake of being ‘cool’.

Perhaps driven by economy, perhaps driven by necessity, perhaps driven by media, or perhaps driven by their own curiosity. Still, I am yet to fully understand why the 18-19 years old women are so easily tempted to use their bodies and promote it as sexual object.
