Flood is already an almost certainty in Indonesia. When rain comes we can expect pockets of flood spring to action and Jakarta is one of the regular customers of flooding.

I have to agree with WALHI’s statement, which said that the Jakarta Government can no longer use nature and climate as their excuse in responding to flooding in the city.

This excuse has been used so many times and so long, it almost becomes a generic statement. WALHI further argues that such excuse is only to protect investors and tend to undermine the environmental and the social consequences that the so-called ‘development’ brings.

Honestly, I don’t know what I can offer to Jakarta to minimize the flood. What I can do now is raising my concern and continue to throw garbage where it belongs.
