One of those activities that a blogger like me do is blogwalking. Visiting new blogs, read them or just to say hello. Naturally I went to many blogs and *ehm* written by Indonesian female bloggers. :D Well it’s like a second nature to click on “girlish” blog links :))

But anyway, these what I can say so far about those blogs:

  • a lot of them are talking about their kids and family.
  • a lot of them are talking about love, life, and cooking.
  • a lot of them are talking about how they feel.
  • a lot of them are talking about their travels.

I have no objection toward those blogs. I just think that we can actually draw a small picture from my finding. A lot of Indonesian female bloggers see blogs as their public personal journals and they continue to treat it as such. Very little I found blogs that try to offer more, such as selling stuff or offer analysis on events and news.

I realize that I can’t draw a complete conclusion just by blogwalking alone, and it is of course doesn’t apply to all of them.

Nevertheless, is it possible that the use of blogs mainly to talk about the topics I mentioned above, represents how women are perceived in this country? Is it also possible to say that this is how Indonesian women positioned themselves in the society?

Well, sometimes we DO analyze certain events and put down our views in our blog (being a female Indonesian blogger myself).

But human beings, at a certain point and to a certain extent, start to revolve around cycles of life. Having routines. Living in our own “trapped” circling world, which of course rotates around our boyfriends/husbands (love), our children, and our family life. Or job, in my case.

It is naturally easier to just write down our feelings and our activities, rather than writing our full analysis on a certain topic. Sometimes, among our jam-packed life, there is simply no time to do anything else. And girls’ blogging is almost like a chain mail, you can read your friend’s and you know lots about her life, without even having to send / read mails!! Practical, don’t you think? but NOT stereotypical! :-D

I guess I didn’t fit in one of your above sayings. :D
I don’t talk about my kids except hints here and there.
I don’t talk about love, but life yes. Food yes, BUT close to never, cooking. :D
About how I feel, might be.
About travels, I didn’t travel much but yes, I love to write about places I visited.

So, where do I fit in?
    I guess it’s not important.
The most substantial point is, I did write and still do write.
Hopefully that helps others and that will make me happy. :D

Thanks for visiting my blog, Adit!

I like to do a bit blog walking too, I generally walk around the blogs that use the CommentLuv plugin so I can visit their commentators blogs. I find a lot of interesting posts and blogs that way (like here!)
